Kaleal and Denamen Earn All-Ohio Status

West Geauga Seniors Caden Kaleal and Brian Denamen earned All-Ohio status after finishing third and sixth respectively at the OHSAA State Wrestling Championships over the weekend in Columbus. Kaleal defeated Bronko Braun from Indian Valley HS 9-2 in the opening round before falling to the number one seed Aiden Ohl from Ontario HS in the second round. Kaleal bounced back to defeat Nash Finley from Granville HS 9-1 before knocking off Collin Bartos from Buckeye HS in the semi-finals. Kaleal defeated Braun for the second time, 13-10 to claim third place overall. The third place finish was the highest placer for West Geauga since 2000 and the highest since 2009. Denamen entered as the number one seed in the 165lb weight class and defeated Gavin Lepley from Norwalk in the opener. Denamen dropped his second bout to Joel Welch from Columbus DeSales. In the consolation bracket, Denamen defeated Evan Ours from Beaver High School and fell to Law Davlin from Perkins. He fell to Keyno Mendez from Wapakoneta to finish fifth in the State.
