The West Geauga High School baseball team split their opening CVC series with Lutheran West on Wednesday and Thursday. The Wolverines took the first game of the series on the road 10-5 behind a six-run second inning. Catcher Tyler Fink homered and collected three hits while driving in three runs to pace the West Geauga offense. Nate Goden picked up a pair of hits and Jackson Remaley drove in two runs in the victory. Bryce Vidovic notched the win with five innings of work while striking out five and allowing four hits. In game two on Thursday, it was Lutheran West who put together a six-run third inning to take a 6-1 lead. The Wolverines answered back with two runs in the bottom of the third and two more in the sixth inning but their comeback effort fell short. Nick Collela collected three hits and scored two runs while Remaley had a pair of hits and drove in a run. West Geauga will be back in CVC action on Monday and Tuesday against Orange.
