The West Geauga High School Varsity Football team picked up its first week one win since 2020 and did so in convincing fashion with a 27-0 win over Fairview at home on Friday night. The Wolverines started the scoring in the first quarter when Austin Kaneiski took a four-yard run in for a touchdown. Quin Mancino added the pointer after for a 7-0 lead. Late in the second quarter, Johnny Beclay converted another run inside the five-yard line for a touchdown to make it 14-0 headed into the half. West Geauga tacked on a short run by Anthony Dzurilla in the third quarter but the point after was no good and the Wolverines led 20-0. Mickey Keenan finished the scoring with a six-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to make it 27-0. The Wolverines outgained the Warriors 266-87 in total yards in a dominate performance by the defense. West Geauga had 16 first downs to Fairview's seven and each team turned the ball over once. Dzurilla finished the night with 15 carries for 82 yards and a score and Vince Vecchio had 10 carries for 67. Keenan finished with 11 touches for 44 yards and a touchdown. The Wolverines outgained the Warriors 238-13 on the ground. West Geauga will take the short trip over to NDCL to take on the Lions next week.
